Megan Meijer

Founder of Salt & Light Counselling

We often see our scars and past experiences as flaws—something to hide or overcome. Yet these struggles are not the sum of who we are. The challenges we face have the potential to shape us into stronger, more resilient individuals, enabling us to move forward with purpose rather than being defined by our pain.

As a counsellor, I walk alongside you through life’s challenges, offering compassion, insight, and fresh perspectives. At times, I’ll gently challenge you to uncover the connections and meaning within your story. I believe that change begins with holding on to hope for a better future and embracing the work of learning about yourself and taking intentional steps toward transformation.

Healing isn’t passive—it takes courage, determination, and grit. The journey can feel difficult at times, but it can also be deeply rewarding, bringing clarity, purpose, and growth. Together, we’ll work to transform what might feel like weakness into the qualities that make you strong, whole, and more fully you.

I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), accredited by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), with over 15 years of experience as a teacher and guidance counsellor in Saskatoon Public Schools and nearly two decades in the education sector. My career has been dedicated to supporting youth and adults through depression, anxiety, addiction, grief, trauma, and burnout.

In my private practice, I work with individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds to address relational challenges in marriages and partnerships, navigate complex family dynamics, and recover from narcissistic abuse. I also help people find meaning and purpose in their experiences, supporting them as they recognize how pain and struggle can serve as a foundation for growth rather than a source of victimization. My professional expertise, combined with personal experience, gives me a unique perspective to help you turn life’s challenges into opportunities for healing and change.
